The Mayor of San Juan Capistrano (Hon. John S. Gelff) along with Gerald J. Miller (Administrator of the San Juan Capistrano Mission) stop for a moment to admire a diorama of the San Juan Mission crafterd entirely in LEGOs by members of the Southern California Lego Train Club.
At this years Swallows Festival, five of the SCLTC club members contributed their time and efforts to render a historic sceen depicting the notorious pirate Hippolyte Bouchard raiding the mission grounds. The layout is composed of thousands of multicolored LEGO pieces representing the tireless commitment of each of the club members.
The layout presently includes:
1. Over 150 LEGO minifigs including pirates, towns people, Imperial Soldiers, indians, Padres and Frairs 2. Dana Point harbour with fortified Imperial soldier garrison, wharf with and two pirate galleon ships 3. Battle sceen where town folk and soldiers confront the pirates 4. Montanez Adobe - Dona Polonia home, nicknamed the 'pied piper of San Juan,' 5. San Juan Mission complete with stone church 6. Vineyards, farm, stable, native shrubby, Sycamore trees and 100's of flowers!
Welcome to the official website of the Southern California LEGO Train Club. This is where you can find information about our members and activites, and check out the events and layouts we have attended.
Here are some points of interest, and some important information about our site:
Event Calendar Our club calendar can be easily manipulated to show past and future shows and meetings in which we will participate. Each event has a membership coordinator, who is responsible for the given event.
Layout Explorers These interactive graphics give you an idea of the scale and content of our layouts. Highlight a section of our layout, and you can find out what it is, who built it, and read a brief description.
Image Galleries Right now the gallery section is undergoing major surgery, so galleries for individual models and graphics are unavailable. However, feel free to check out our show galleries, which probably have all the images you want!
Panorama Photographs Right now we only have one, but for our next few shows, our club will take this new medium to the extreme, bringing high-res 3D panoramas to your eyes for complete immersion in our layouts.
This news post was generated using Active Server Page (ASP) technology.
With ASP, there are plenty of new things that our website will be able to do.
One fine example is the Poll. Please vote in the poll both so I get an idea of what the priorities are and so I know who came here. Don't vote more than once; I haven't figured out how to stop you =(.
Eventually, this site will feature login access so club members besides myself, the webmaster, will be able to post messages, create polls, and add captions to images. In addition, a logged in member will be able to find all club-related information, such as phone numbers, addresses, unconfirmed vents, and any other non-public details.
I hope you all enjoy the new concept and look forward to its completion, because I certainly do!
